Mary Alice Wooldridge Kessler ~ Spring Valley, CA
After high school, I went to San Diego State.  But after a year or so I thought that work
looked like an easier option. Little did I know.  I went to work as an Electronic Assembler
where I met my first husband.  We married in 1969 and in March 1974 had our first
daughter Jamie.  In November 1975 we had our second daughter Laura.  I was a
stay-at-home mom but decided to work at home doing Electronic Assembly.  I was able to
get contract work, enough to keep me busy in the evenings while the kids slept.  In 1980,
my niece, Ronda came to live with us. Now we are 5. By 1985 it was time to go it alone
with my 3 kids.
In 1990 everything changed, I became reacquainted with a Classmate from Monte Vista
High School Class of '65, Phil "Butch" Kessler, tackle for the MV Football Team in 1964,
we soon married.  He came with a good heart, 2 boys Robert and Paul, (a few years
older than my girls) and a house on San Miguel Mountain.
We have 7 Grandchildren, 4 girls and 3 boys.
Butch is retired and I go to work at the
San Diego Natural History Museum every day, in
the
Botany Department. I dearly love my job and everyone that I work with.
Gary Ward ~ La Mesa, CA
After high school, I attended Grossmont College for 3 years.  Transferred to San Diego
State and Graduated in 1972 – BS Business Management.

Dana and I were married in 1971.  We have 2 sons and 2 grandsons.  Justin was born in
1973.  He and his wife Kelly are teachers in Porterville, CA.  They have 2 sons-
Benjammin (Justin thought the 2 m’s would be fun – Ben Jammin).  Ben is 5 years old
and of course is very handsome and intelligent.  Kaden is 2 years old and is full of
personality.   It’s OK to brag about your grandkids, isn’t it?  Our other son Roth was born
in 1975.  He and his wife Shannon live in Lakeside.  Roth works in the family business
and Shannon works in administration at Barona Casino.

After college, I went to work for Long’s Drug Stores.  I was with them for 13 years.  I
worked in stores in San Diego, Fresno, Oceanside, San Ysidro, Calexico, Rancho San
Diego and La Mesa.

In 1984, we started our  business – Recognition Express –
www.recognitionexpress.com .
We have lived and learned through all the ups and down cycles of running a business.
Son, Roth has now worked in the business for several years and it has been rewarding
and fun having him add his skills and ideas to the operation.

We live in La Mesa and are enjoying all those special middle aged activities.  Dana
enjoys scrapbooking and her garden.  I play golf every week.  We, of course, love being
with our grandsons and we have a Motorhome which we have found to be a fun way to
travel.

I have enjoyed working with the reunion committee and look forward to seeing you all
there.
